GETTING STARTED WITH ASANA
We hate to break it to you, but “tracking” your work in emails and documents isn’t working for you.
And we all know that meeting to talk about work leads to, well, more work.
Have you ever looked down at your growing to do list and thought, “There has to be a better way!”
There is.
What you really need is the freedom to not constantly keep track of every little thing.
Remembering to follow up on that email you sent that went unanswered.
Recalling what folder and what document you put your notes from the last meeting.
Reminding yourself and others that there is more work to be done. So. Much. More.
This is what we call the “mental load of work”.
But, what if we told you there was a way to get more clarity on what your priorities are, detail out the work that has to be done, and then set it and forget it until it’s time to actually do the work.
Meet Asana, your new work collaboration hub
Asana is the perfect work management tool for anyone that wants an effective and simple solution to find clarity in their work and get things done.
What could you do with an extra 10 hours in your week?
Take a class or online course
Meet with a mentor or partner
Host an advocacy event in your local community
Engage with a new sponsor or donor
Imagine having that time to invest in your career and your mission.
Why Asana is better than…
-
Email isn’t actionable, doesn’t help teams define next steps, and scatters the information you need—not to mention the effort it takes to keep your inbox clean and organized. In Asana, you can turn your emails into trackable tasks in Asana without leaving your inbox, so you can spend less time writing emails and more time getting work done.
-
File sharing tools are great for collaboration, but sometimes documents can be disorganized or hard to find, and since they’re not alongside the work itself, they still don’t tell you who is doing what by when. We recommend adding files directly to your tasks in Asana, so you can find the latest version quickly and collaborate easily. Plus, Asana integrates with Google Drive, OneDrive and Dropbox so adding attachments to Asana is simple.
-
Chat is important for a quick real-time conversation about something time-sensitive, but it can also be distracting, difficult to search, and hard to keep track of action items. In Asana, we use messages to communicate with teammates on tasks or projects. The history of the message will be accessible and searchable later, and due dates and assignees will be clear. Plus, we can set up automations to receive notifications in Slack or Microsoft Teams, if that is something you would prefer.
-
In Asana, calendars are created automatically from any set of tasks or projects. When due dates get changed, this will be reflected on the task itself, in the project list, and on the calendar – all in real time. Tasks can also be edited directly from the calendar and dragged to update timelines. If you sync any Asana calendar to your Outlook calendar, you can click directly over to the task in Asana from Outlook or Gmail.

Client Review
“I booked a Systems Audit with Mary and I am so glad that I did! I spent the past two weeks trying to navigate Asana on my own and still felt like a hot mess. Mary showed me tricks and tips to ensure that the project management software worked for me. I have since reorganized the system in a way that is less cluttered, makes more sense and will save me time in the long run.”

It’s time for a better way to work
So many people shudder at the idea of systems. But, we like to think of SYSTEMs as an acronym: Saving Yourself Stress, Time, Energy and Money.
When you find a straight-forward system to help you manage work, life and everything in between it frees you to not necessarily do more, but to achieve more.
Hi there, I’m Mary.
When I first started using Asana 7 years ago I was working in corporate, designing career and leadership development programs for our global organization.
It all started with that first program and 25 participants. Creating a high-touch experience was manageable, until it wasn’t.
The participation doubled with each new cohort, and one program quickly grew to five.
Soon I was managing a portfolio of programs that served hundreds of employees every single year.
Luckily for me I found Asana…and the rest is history.

Still have questions?
-
There is a free version of Asana for you to access, however in order to leverage all that Asana has to offer you we recommend the Business plan. This gives you and your organization access to Rules, Conditional Logic in Forms, Portfolios and more. We’ll be sure to mention in the course when something is a paid feature.
-
Absolutely! In fact, Asana offers nonprofit discounts to its customers for any paid pricing plan (we recommend the Business Plan). Get in touch with us or Asana to take advantage of this benefit.
-
Very minimal! Even though we have designed the modules to build off of each other, there’s nothing that says you can’t go to the lesson that you need and come back to enjoy the rest later.
-
I get it - sometimes watching videos online isn’t the most ideal way to learn and apply things for everyone. That’s why we offer a couple different options for additional support:
Work Flows Community - our membership community with access to our team in our member forums
Power Hour - Book a personal power hour to work through your Asana questions and support in real-time
